Directly translated as large plate chicken, as its name states, this is exactly what you get but what the name does not reveal is that this is a spicy dish that originates from Xinjiang which is famous for its large Muslim population in China and the ethnic minority group known as the Uyghurs.
This literally HUGE dish is made with large chunks of potatoes and chicken, capsicum aka as bell peppers, chillies and peppercorns along with other spices and herbs. It is a mouth watering and tasty dish but not for those who cannot bear spiciness as it is a fairly hot and spicy dish.
The going price for this dish is about RMB 60 – 90 and can easily serve up to 4 people at one time. It is usually served with rice or sometimes a special kind of bread that is served with it and can be dipped in the dish. More info will be given about this bread at a later stage.
See the sample video below of this dish. (The video cannot be viewed in China but only overseas.)
